The BNSF Railway Finance Department provides innovative strategic solutions and world-class financial services to support BNSF's overall performance. Within the Finance Department, several specialized departments contribute to its overall mission: Controller, Revenue Management, Strategic Sourcing, Tax, Treasury, and Strategic Studies. Each department is vital in managing BNSF's financial health and strategic financial planning. These departments work collaboratively to secure BNSF's economic stability and support its growth and innovation within the railway industry.

This is a full-time position located in Topeka, KS. For certain positions, including this one, employees can work one day per week remotely.  Our leaders also foster a culture where work life balance, which requires flexibility for when life happens, is important and respected.

Travel is minimal, less than 10%

Salary range:

0+ years of experience: $61,600 - $82,100 

1+ years of experience: $72,200 - $88,301 

These ranges reflect what BNSF Railway reasonably expects to pay for this position, based on the role’s level, scope, and responsibilities. Final compensation and position level will be determined by factors such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. In addition to base pay and bonus eligibility, BNSF offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Key responsibilities may include: 

Primary duties include serving as a point-of-contact for external customers, BNSF transportation/operations, and marketing personnel in addressing and resolving customer waybill issues.

Create and maintain billing patterns in the Shipping Instructions web tool and onboard customers in the use of the tool.

Assist with troubleshooting issues which arise from customer EDI billing.

Proactively work with customers, business partners, and other rail carriers to promote a healthy waybill which can flow touch free through the revenue pipeline.

Provide analysis and other duties to support the department’s business and efficiency initiatives.

Other responsibilities may include interfacing with Technology Services (TS) regarding program development and TSS enhancements impacting waybill processes.

Perform analysis of revenue transactions, billing activity, customer contracts, tariffs, and operational data to identify revenue leakage, compliance risks, and billing discrepancies.

Execute and monitor key revenue protection controls designed to ensure the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of revenue recognition.

Investigate exceptions, anomalies, and high-risk transactions while partnering with Marketing, Operations, Technology Services (TS), Customer Support, and Accounting teams to resolve identified issues.

Utilize analytical tools, reporting platforms, and large datasets to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for process improvements that strengthen revenue assurance processes.

Support revenue recovery efforts through validation of billing opportunities, documentation of findings, and coordination with stakeholders to facilitate corrective actions.

Develop, maintain, and enhance reporting, dashboards, and monitoring tools used to measure control effectiveness, revenue risk exposure, and department performance.

Participate in business initiatives, system implementations, and process improvement projects by providing subject matter expertise related to revenue controls, billing processes, and revenue protection requirements.

Assist with audit requests, control documentation, testing activities, and compliance initiatives to support internal control and governance requirements.

Communicate findings, recommendations, and business impacts to management and key stakeholders through written reports, presentations, and analysis.

Other responsibilities may include supporting the development of automated controls, advanced analytics, artificial intelligence solutions, and continuous monitoring capabilities designed to improve revenue protection outcomes.

Daily work is conducted in an indoor office environment.
