DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
HEAVY BRIDGE PROGRAM - Serve as BNSF's lead Structures representative for the South Region Heavy Bridge program, from generating consensus on initial design concept through in-servicing and ultimately project closeout. At any point in time, the typical workload for this position would have six to 12 Heavy Bridge projects in a status ranging from concept development, detailed design/permitting or active construction.
While not an all inclusive list, some anticipated categories of tasks include managing project contracts and financial budgets/forecasts/performance, meeting with internal and external stakeholders, coordinate with Divisions on project support needs, long range planning.
Implement, manage, and audit safety processes on projects.
SYSTEM STRUCTURES RESPONSE/COVERAGE: Serve in System Structure's weekend/holiday rotation for response to service interruption recovery efforts. Roles include in-office coordination, on-site response or off-site representation overseeing fabrication of materials.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires thorough knowledge of physical plant relating to trackage, drainage, and facilities.
- Must be experienced in working with contractors for construction projects relating to track, facilities, and new construction.
- Planning and engineering design capabilities are essential.
- Must have thorough understanding of capital budgeting system and process and also be knowledgeable of track maintenance and operations.
- Communication skills must be exemplary to allow frequent interfacing with agency, community, political, and customer representatives.
- Must have strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ten years' experience or more in the above is desirable.
- Engineering or Construction Management degree highly desired.
- Professional Engineer License is desirable but not required.
RELOCATION: Relocation package may be offered based on business needs.
