DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage preparation of engineering design/plans, estimates, and schedules for facilities, primarily including power distribution, lighting, electric vehicle/equipment charging and other related electrical systems.
- Manage construction of the electrical facility projects including planning, permitting, project administration, and inspection. Implement and manage construction safety processes that include close coordination with Divisions/Transportation.
- Provide leadership and communication with Transportation/Engineering to provide projects that meet their needs with the most efficient delivery as possible.
- Effectively evaluate and control changes to project scope and schedule with appropriate change orders.
- Create and coordinate cash flow forecasts and collaborate with Finance effectively.
- Implement BNSF sustainability programs on all projects. Lead enduring opportunities and objectives throughout the design and construction phases as well as improve the long-term operational sustainability of built infrastructure.
- Manage the 5-year strategic plans for both capital expansion and capital maintenance projects. Be responsive to the maintenance needs of the operationally sensitive facilities and leverage low-volume opportunities for executing work.
- Collaborate and coordinate with Division staff, Engineering, Telecom, Signal, Structures, Environmental & Sustainability, and other departments as appropriate.
- Drive collaboration between contractors/designers/local stakeholders using the CMGC Hybrid delivery method.
- Lead and develop project engineers that will manage the projects effectively and safely.
- Support various reporting and data collection for Engineering systems, internal customers, and others as needed. Leverage EAS for project management, internal coordination, and reporting.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires thorough knowledge of physical plant relating to electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, electric vehicle/equipment charging, and control systems for moveable bridges/ventilated tunnels.
- Must be experienced in working with contractors for new construction and maintenance programs.
- Planning and engineering design capabilities are essential.
- Must have working understanding of capital budgeting system.
- Communication skills must be exemplary to allow frequent interfacing with Transportation, Engineering, designers, contractors, agencies, the community, and customers.
- Must have strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ten years minimum experience in the above is highly desired.
- Engineering or Construction Management degree preferred, but not required.
- Professional Engineering license a plus.
