As a paid Summer Intern for the System Safety team, BNSF Railway provides students with a hands-on immersion into the operational support of rail transportation, covering areas like safety data analysis, government regulatory compliance, and safety communications. Throughout the internship, you will gain practical experience and deepen your understanding of BNSF's dedication to a positive safety culture that helps protect our employees, contractors, customers, and the communities we serve. By working closely with experienced professionals on real-world projects, you will enhance your skills and knowledge, setting a solid foundation for a potential career in the transportation industry. Successful Interns may be hired as full-time Management Trainees upon graduation.

This is a full-time position located in Fort Worth, TX.
Travel is minimal, must have reliable transportation to and from work.
Relocation is required if located more than 50 miles from the location.
Training will start with a two-day orientation in Fort Worth, Texas, offering a company overview and networking with leaders. This will be followed by support of ongoing projects and practical training with the department.
Key responsibilities may include:
Learning to manage reports of injury, rail equipment and highway grade crossing incidents.
Monitoring hours of service compliance data.
Interacting with Operations departments to compile and review information.
Producing various reports to monitor safety performance.
Possess leadership, teamwork, clear communication, adaptability, and resilience to overcome obstacles and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
Daily work is conducted in an indoor office environment.

Basic Qualifications:
- Legally authorized to work in the United States and will be at least eighteen (18) years old upon hire.
- Does not require sponsorship to obtain, maintain, or extend authorization to work in the United States. (For example, H1-B Visa or STEM OPT)
- Pursuing a Bachelors or Graduate degree in Occupational Safety, Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain Management, Business, Communications, Technical, OR a similar degree program from an accredited university.
- Have and will maintain at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA.
- Have LESS THAN three (3) years of professional work experience, EXCLUDING internships, part-time jobs, or positions held while pursuing my undergraduate and/or graduate degree.
- Have access to reliable transportation for the duration of the internship to and from my assigned BNSF location.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior intern experience or less than 3 years of work experience in Safety, Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, Data Analytics or a related field.
- Knowledge of Tableau or similar programs.
- Have or have held a leadership position in a campus, community, or extracurricular organization.
- Pursuing a degree in Occupational Safety.
