DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor and evaluate optical images and electronic measurements of track geometry and track structure
- Use BNSF developed software to perform defect review and validation
- Perform trending analysis of the optical test platform and unmanned geometry car data to provide planning tools for the field and capital projects team
- Coordinate movement of test vehicles with Transportation team personnel
- Work with other departments to improve efficiencies of the Track Measurement team (TR&D, TS, Data Analytics)
- Ensure compliance with the Engineering Instructions and FRA 213 regulations regarding optical/geometry testing compliance up to and including issuance of Form A’s
- This position will participate in the continued development of optical/unattended track geometry testing systems and applications including Track Health Optical Recognition (THOR)

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED
- Must possess excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work autonomously
- Proficiency with software programs and reporting tools including Tableau, Microsoft Power Point, Excel
- Ability to communicate effectively on both a technical and practical level with internal and external customers
- Must possess excellent reporting and data visualization skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (Not required):
- Supervisors: Tier II Certified / Managers: Tier III certified by a Manager of Engineering Certification.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering field, Computer Science, or other related field preferred. Experience with track maintenance, electronics, computer programming, data analysis, or similar may be substituted for education.
- One Year of track maintenance and/or track inspection experience. (ex. Previous MOW Foreman, Track Supervisor/Inspector, OR Operations FLS experience)
- Thorough understanding of FRA regulations including FRA 213 and BNSF Engineering Instructions
- Familiarity with current optical/track geometry measurement systems
HOURS/ SHIFT/ WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Able to work long and irregular hours to include nights, weekends, and holidays
- Shift work, hours will vary (24x7 environment)
- Safety-sensitive work environment
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions: hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet
- Able to distinguish colors, climb, bend, crawl and lift heavy objects occassionaly
TRAVEL: Less than 10% of the time is spent in the field
