Salary range:

4+ years of experience: $92,000 – $122,700

6+ years of experience: $107,000 – $135,000

 

These ranges reflect what BNSF Railway reasonably expects to pay for this position, based on the role’s level, scope, and responsibilities. Final compensation and position level will be determined by factors such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. In addition to base pay and bonus eligibility, BNSF offers a comprehensive benefits package.

 

BNSF’s Marketing team serves as a primary contact for all BNSF customers, working to make the shipping experience as easy and seamless as possible. From onboarding new customers to handling rate and service requests to answering billing questions, the Marketing team is focused on building strong customer relationships and ensuring effective communication throughout the shipping process. The team is organized into several critical business units to cater to diverse customer needs and industry demands: Agriculture and Energy, Consumer Products, and Industrial Products, alongside specialized units for Customer Support, Forecasting, and Planning. Each of these units plays a role in tailoring our marketing strategies and services to meet the unique requirements of our wide-ranging customer base, ensuring a comprehensive and responsive approach to customer service and engagement.

 

This position will be the leader for coordinating the BNSF resources for customers across all internal support groups, including Equipment, Economic Development, Service Design, Marketing, Law, Collections, eBusiness, Leadership and others.   

 

This is a full-time position located in Fort Worth, TX.   For certain positions, including this one, employees can work one day per week remotely.  Our leaders also foster a culture where work life balance, which requires flexibility for when life happens, is important and respected.

 

Travel is minimal, less than 10%

 

This position is involved with all aspects of BNSF’s Foods and Dimensional Cargo forecast group, including the development and execution of marketing strategies using current market and competitive intelligence and economic factors.

 

Key responsibilities may include: 

Lead development and implementation of the BNSF Food Wind, Aviation, Project Cargo marketing strategy that supports the planned growth in volume and revenue quality. 

Collaborate with BNSF sales and other internal stakeholders to develop total transportation solutions that drive profitable growth both in new and existing customer supply chains.

Create and implement business development strategies by conducting extensive market/industry research. Understand issues affecting the marketplace including political, legislative, economic and environmental aspects.

Identify non-traditional growth opportunities and programs through the development of comprehensive business plans. Establish efficient, rail-based programs that attract and capture incremental business in support of those plans. 

Develop internal and external relationships through daily communication and collaboration to further enhance alignment across BNSF departments to advance growth initiatives.

Negotiate pricing with interline carriers. 

Achieve annual and long-term financial plans for assigned markets.

Provide market forecasts using market drivers to support resource planning.

Supply analytics that maximize customer and market potential including revenue, contribution, volume, and market share. 

Understand and leverage BNSF technology/tools for decision support and pricing execution.  Collaborate with internal teams to accurately analyze cost and profitability, route efficiency and equipment utilization to support growth.

Provide the highest level of customer service when interacting with internal and external customers. Meet customer expectations with timely communication and publication of pricing. 

Integrate Salesforce, RAPID and SMART tools, as well as Sales Training best practices into daily responsibilities.

Act as BNSF's SME for assigned markets.  

Daily work is conducted in an indoor office environment.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Able to work now and in the future without BNSF’s assistance (whether monetary, through sponsorship, or otherwise) in obtaining, maintaining, or extending employment authorization (including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, or TN nonimmigrant status).
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in Sales/Marketing, Rail Operations or a related industry.
  • Strong ability to analyze business problems and large data sets quantitatively and objectively.
  • Ability to analyze market supply and demand dynamics to develop effective pricing strategy and structure.
  • Ability to evaluate complex market and competitive data to drive decisions and appropriate actions.
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong analytical approach to capturing market value.
  • Experience leading complex, cross-departmental projects.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate clearly with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to effectively listen and understand market and customer needs and provide creative solutions to drive profitable growth.
  • Ability to independently recognize business opportunities and quickly turn those opportunities into opportunities for BNSF.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and analytical skills, as well as effective oral and written communication skills. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree with a preference in Business, Marketing (B2B), Economics, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering.
  • Master's degree.
  • 6 years experience in Sales/Marketing, Rail Operations or a related industry.
  • Working knowledge of BNSF’s and the railroad industry’s operational, business, and interline system environment.
  • Working knowledge of the Industrial Products Industries.
  • Experience with Microsoft Suites, TSS, GQL, Tableau, RAPID and Smart.
