Salary Range: $110,430 - $122,700

The BNSF Railway's Transportation Department plays a crucial role in ensuring the timely and safe movement of goods across one of North America's largest freight rail transportation networks. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, coordinating and overseeing the complex logistics of rail transportation. Ideal candidates will have a strong commitment to safety, leadership, problem-solving skills, and a dedication to enhancing the efficiency and reliability of our transportation services.

 

Travel may be necessary for this position.

 

RELOCATION: Relocation assistance may be offered based on business need.

 

Key responsibilities may include: 

  1. Plan, execute and monitor distribution of locomotives to achieve on time performance, while meeting utilization and productivity goals.
  2. Plan distribution of locomotives on system for freight, local, road switch and yard switch.
  3. Plan distribution and monitor movement of locomotives for scheduled maintenance, repair and special assignments.
  4. Manage HPT to achieve on time performance and fuel conservation.
  5. Maintain accurate locomotive inventory at all locations on territory.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Basic knowledge of locomotive types and capabilities required.
  2. Knowledge of train movement, blocking and scheduling procedures required.
  3. Must be able to demonstrate advanced PC and mainframe skills.
  4. Must have the ability to meet deadlines, with high quality, error-free results.
  5. Must be able to take initiative for solving problems.
  6. Must take responsibility for own decisions and actions.
  7. Should be able to make sound decisions even when under time pressure or conditions of uncertainty.
  8. Should demonstrate good personal time management skills.
  9. Must be able to comprehend verbal material quickly and easily.
  10. Must be able communicate candidly and openly with others.
  11. Ability to maintain control and composure even where there are strong differences of opinions is required.
  12. Need to be able to establish smooth, cooperative working relationships with others.
  13. Must be able to adjust easily to changes at work.
  14. Need to develop short-term plans that are realistic and effective in accomplishing business objectives.
  15. Basic knowledge of federal regulations (e.g., FRA, EPA) required.
  16. Must be able to follow through on commitments.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor's degree.
  2. Knowledge of LISS or other graphical interface systems.
  3. Knowledge of General and Safety Rules.

 

**Preference will be given to individuals with experience in the following positions: chief dispatcher, terminal trainmaster, and division trainmaster**
